We need to make sure we are covered in the medical field. A Neurosurgeon is there for one thing and that is surgery, under rare circumstance they may want to help you through your whole recovery but most of the time about 3-6 moths after surgery they will want you to go to a Neurologist.
Neurologist are good to have before, during and after the surgery process. They can monitor your symptoms and help in anyway tests that might be needed. They can make sure that “IF” other issues happen they will get you the care need for that.
We always need a good family doctor, they will monitor everything else that is going on and also make sure the other doctors have not missed anything. The ideal situation is that it is a group of doctors that can and “WILL” talk to each other so they have a plan for your care. If for any reason you are uncomfortable with any of your doctors PLEASE do not just deal get a new one. This is your body and your care and it is important that you get the best care out there. By having the three doctors you will also get other information and advice, this is a good thing. Everyone has there own opinion on Chiari it is worth hearing all side and making the correct decision for you.
Now you have the medical side covered we are also responsible of keeping us health and moving forward. Moving forward is a topic I am working on for another day. But please remember our doctors can only do part of the job on helping us we have to do the other part!
With love and support.
PLEASE NOTE: It is our responsibility to make sure the doctors we go to are on board and supporting us with Chiari. If not I highly urge you to find doctors who will support you in the fight for Chiari.
